Hey there, I’m Mandie!
I am an Alabama native who grew up in the sock capital of the world, Fort Payne. I’m the daughter of a Vietnam Veteran who’s an educator of the Arts. My family is proud to call Alabaster home, where all 4 children attend our incredible public schools. I am an Auburn Alumni, class of 2009. War Eagle! I earned my bachelor’s degree in Anthropology. I am your average working class person, who is ready for people like me to have a seat at the table. Coming from a struggling family, I worked hard to get into middle class but that keeps slipping away for many Alabamians.
I’ve juggled work and school drop-offs, and stayed up late helping with math homework. I’ve had great jobs, lost jobs, started over, and kept going. I’ve felt the pain of broken systems - healthcare, education, government - and I’ve learned how to navigate them not because I wanted to, but because I had to. It shouldn’t be this hard for people to have access to what they need to live.
I’m not running for State Senate because I have all the answers. I’m running because I have lived it + I am ready to bring my life experience to our legislature. And I believe it’s time for leaders who’ve been there, who don’t need a briefing to understand what the families in Alabama are dealing with.
We have enough politicians in politics - what we need are more PEOPLE in politics.
My background isn’t polished politics - it’s real life. I’ve worked in customer success, in tech + retail, in corporate America for 15 years. Target, Shipt, Gap + Wyndy, to name a few. I’ve led teams, supported clients, organized communities, and advocated for customers who felt ignored or pushed aside.
I’ve created childcare solutions for working families, attended the meetings, and heard real feedback. That is why I am here - the real stories of everyday people. And through it all, I’ve learned that all people deserve access to healthcare, homes, and humanity.
I love this state deeply. I love the people in it.
I love our history of creating change.
I believe we can build an even better future here, but if we do it together, from the ground up.
I’m not perfect, but I’m present. I’m paying attention. And I’m not afraid to get loud when it counts.
